Same Same but Different (2017)Throughout this project we learned about the different religions across the world. We were put in groups where we would learn about a religion and create an ignite talk. An ignite presentation is a five minute presentation where the slides change on it's own every 30 seconds. It's not allowed to look at the presentation or have note cards. In these presentations we had to mention the deity/deities, religious symbols, sacred text, moral code, and afterlife. We had previously practiced one minute ignite talks about several topics ranging from food to social justice. As a class we were able to learn about the different religions from watching our peers presentations.

Hope Lives When People Remember (Holocaust) (2017)In this project we went in more depth of the events taken place in the Holocaust. We completed several IWitness lessons from website created by the USCShoah Foundation. It contains a vast amount of testimonies of Holocaust survivors. Our teacher's goal was to help us understand how the oppression was slowly growing and how it didn't just suddenly occur but it had existed for a long period of time. In one of the IWitness activities it required us to create a video using testimonies from their library. We were also able to learn about the perpetrators, collaborators, bystanders, up standers ,and target/victims in the Holocaust and in our life experiences. From analyzing our life experiences we were able to remember a situation where we have been in any of those five roles. We then wrote a story where we were in any of the five roles.

Corazon Y Alma (2017)This was an interdisciplinary project, meaning it covered all three classes. For example, we learned in Humanities, Maths/Physics, and Spanish. The project name translates to "Heart and Soul". In humanities, we were able to learn about U.S relations with Latin America. Our assignment was to become an expert in a country in Latin America and the U.S relations between those countries. Before becoming an expert, we were able to have mock trials representing a Latin American dictator. In this project, we were able to have field trips to Chicano Park and Friendship Park. Our teacher's goal was to have both perspectives on illegal immigrants and then come up with our own opinion. We had Border Patrol talk to us about how they view this issue we also talked to border angels. Border Angels is a non-profit organization that leaves out food and water to those who are crossing.
